Catering by Rosemary Creates Artistic Desserts

Whether for a Presidential reception for 200, or a themed extravaganza for 3,000 the San Antonio-based RK Group is committed to producing memorable events.

Created in the kitchen of a diner nearly 50 years ago by Rosemary Kowalski, today the RK Group is the parent company to six subsidiary firms including: Catering by Rosemary; RK Association Management; Illusions Retails and Designs; Spezzatura Florals; Circa Texas and Catering by Rosemary of Austin.

The RK Group was built on the foundation of success established by Catering by Rosemary. Considered the preeminent full-service catering company throughout San Antonio and South Texas, the company over the years has served such famous dinners as Pope John II, Prince Charles, several U.S. Presidents, Mick Jagger, Bob Hope and many more. The RK Group prides itself on putting its own distinctive touch in the creation and preparation of each menu. Desserts are a vital part of the menu planning process. According to William Flusche, an account executive with Catering by Rosemary, "Desserts are very important in our events because they are the last chance to make the meal shine. Plus, they make a lasting impression that people remember."

Catering unique desserts also helps Catering by Rosemary obtain catering contracts. "With such a competitive atmosphere in the industry today, if we develop an exciting desserts that complements the theme of the occasion, it helps us close the sale, "says Flusche. Desserts can also help make a statement. Last year, for an event to honor world-renowned Hispanic artist and San Antonio native, Jesse Trevino, at the opening of his art exhibit at the Instituto Cultural Mexicano. Catering by Rosemary served a chocolate artist's palate designed by Chocolates à la Carte with mocha ice cream and fresh fruit.

"When the dessert was served, people stood up and applauded," says Carollee Youngblood, vice president of public relations for the RK Group. "The dessert was the grande finale to a great evening which brought together diverse segments of the community of San Antonio to salute Jesse Trevino, of whom the entire community is very proud."
